Saving a Driver, Dodging Smoke, and Immediately Going Back to Work

Car Crash: My Unexpected Role as a First Responder

I was walking home when suddenly, I had a front-row seat to an intense car accident right in front of the condo complex next door.
(October 2025)

I watched as the first car slammed into the other. The shock was immediate. The first car then started heading backward toward me—just its taillight coming straight for me! Luckily, it swerved and crashed into the bushes instead.

Immediate Action

The shock quickly turned into a rush of adrenaline. I immediately went to the car that had swerved. Airbags were deployed, and the car was smoking—I didn’t want to take any chances, thinking about all those movie scenes where cars catch fire!

I opened the driver’s door and saw the main lady driver. She was dazed, but I quickly got her out of the car.

A bystander from across the street joined me. Because of my stroke, my right side is numb, so with the help of the bystander and another person who arrived, we carefully helped the main lady across the street to sit down.

Assessing the Scene

I was relieved to see that no one was killed. The lady I helped had cuts and scratches on her legs and arms, but she was okay. What struck me was that she was more worried about the driver of the second car.

The second driver was also okay, just dazed and confused about what had just happened.

It was only later that I found out the main lady had been driving drunk. “Ahh ha,” I thought. “That explains it.” We were late in the afternoon and the sun was shining bright, making a senseless crash like that even more confusing.

The Aftermath

In what felt like no time, the scene was filled with noise and flashing lights. The ambulance and police arrived. I checked the main players were all accounted for: the two drivers, the main lady’s husband (who came to console her), four (!) police officers, the fire truck (!!!), the EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians—that’s the word!), and a crowd of onlookers. Once I knew everything was handled, I left the scene.

My father later said, “You saved her life!”

I don’t know if I’d go that far. I simply got a shocked person out of a potentially dangerous situation. It was a terrifying and intense moment, but I’m glad I was there to act fast.

But that was my story.

The scene was full of activity: the police and EMTs were dealing with the happening, the victims were being cared for, and the surrounding people were a mix of onlookers, concerned citizens, and curious neighbors. I was one of the unexpected witnesses who jumped in to help, and once the professionals took over, I went right back to work as if nothing ever happened.

That’s the raw truth of it. LoL! ㅋㅋㅋ

It highlights the shock of the event, my quick action despite my disability, and the sudden, amusing transition back to your normal life.

^^

Here you go, the aftermath:
